OCU Alumni Board Adds New Members

As the new year turns, so does the Oakland City University Alumni Board of Directors.

Established in 2022, the Oakland City University Alumni Board of Directors has organized and formed committees, established principles to guide the organization, and tackled changes to new operations moving forward.

A couple of significant projects undertaken by the board since its formation were managing the new Bell Tower Brick display and sales and raising funds to provide students with an outdoor relaxation area featuring a community hammock hangout.  The board also collected over 650 signatures required by the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles to petition for a signature OCU Alumni license plate like over 30 higher-ed institutions.  The board has also handled the preparation of their annual Alumni Luncheon, funding Faith Night at the Evansville Thunderbolts hockey game where, in the past three years, OCU has given away five scholarships valued at $48,000 each.  OCU Athletic events would not be the same without the board members' participation.  The board has been very active, to say the least.

With a rigorous agenda, board participation is vital for continued success.  In January, the board invited five alums to join in anticipation of their leadership and the future growth of Alumni activities.

All five alumni agreed to join the board.  The new board members are:

Greg Dillon – Class of 1975

Newburgh, Indiana

Jim Deffendall – Class of 1981

Mayor of Oakland City

Oakland City, Indiana

William (Bill) Dickerson– Class of 1982

Tell City, Indiana

Matt Malin – Class of 1990

Mackey, Indiana

Dave Fox – Class of 1979

Oakland City, Indiana

The board meets on the first Monday of every month on the OCU campus with links for members who live outside the Oakland City area.
