Operation Christmas Child 2024
On Tuesday November 19th, The Oakland City University Campus community came together and assembled care packages at the Operation Christmas Child packing party. Operation Christmas Child is a project by Samaritan's Purse, an international Christian relief and evangelism organization, that aims to provide children in need with shoeboxes filled with gifts.
Churches and schools pack shoeboxes with gifts like toys, hygiene items, and school supplies. The boxes are then collected and distributed to children in need through local churches. Since 1993, Operation Christmas Child has collected and delivered more than 220 million shoebox gifts to children in over 170 countries and territories.
At the Direction of Matthew Hoffer, assistant director for community engagement, Oakland City University’s Campus community quickly assembled almost 110 care packages that were shipped directly to Samaritans Purse.
Plans are underway to continue volunteer efforts for next year.
