Community Garden Receives Grant

Oakland City University is proud to announce the winning of a $3,000.00 community enhancement award from The Community Foundation of Gibson County.

OCU will be adding new features to the Community Garden this spring.  The Community Garden will be all-abuzz with winged insects known for their role in pollination; yes, you guessed it, we will be adding a Beehive.  Mark (class of 2001) and Ruthie Stout from Elberfeld, Indiana, owners of over 20 bee hives, will donate a hive to OCU’s community garden.  But wait, there’s more: OCU encourages students and Oakland City residents to harvest items they want from the garden, so we plan to add solar lights for evening participation.  Also planned is a water feature, new planting boxes, and more.

Enjoy OCU’s Community Garden. It is for the entire community.
